For over twenty years, Oscar was a Full Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy, Assistant Chair, and Keyboard Areas Coordinator at the University of Texas at El Paso. Currently, he is a tenured Associate Professor of Piano Pedagogy at the University of North Texas College of Music.

Oscar Macchioni, a native of Argentina, is an International Steinway Artists, an accomplished solo and collaborative pianist, professor, lecturer, author, and adjudicator. Oscar has performed extensively in Europe, Asia, and North and South America and is much in demand as an adjudicator at various state, national, and international piano competitions and festivals. He published a book with College Music Society, and several articles on piano literature and piano pedagogy topics in the American Teacher Magazine, Piano Pedagogy Forum, and Piano Inspires (NCKP). He released three albums with solo and chamber Latin American music.

In 2015, Oscar received the prestigious University of Texas System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award, and in 2019 he was inducted into the UTEP Academy of Distinguished Teachers. He received grants and scholarships from the Latino Center at the Smithsonian Institution (graduate researcher), the Polish Government, the Organization of American State, MTNA StAr Award, and “Distinguished Graduate Student” from the University of Arizona. For over a decade, he was the recipient of several grants from El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department to perform concerts in underserved communities. Oscar is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Borderland Chopin International Piano Competition and Festival. He studied piano at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (Argentina), the Krakow Academy of Music (Poland), Louisiana State University, and the University of Arizona (USA).
